God's Life in me, I. L.

There is an appointed time for everything. My salvation came to me when I was on a trip to the little Grand Canyon in Kauai in 1979. The radiance of the sunset spans the heaven and the canyon rocks. An awesome feeling pressed upon my heart, and I just cried out that there must be God who made this glorious creation. I was baptized a few months after that trip.

I began to explore what is the human spirit. The Bible mentions the human spirit many times, but I had no tool to unlock how I could apply my spirit in my Christian life. I was very thirsty in seeking the way to nourish my human spirit and the way to make it grow.

My aunt brought me to meetings of the church in Houston. I went my first live conference given by Witness Lee in 1988, and I had another life changing experience. Witness Lee used a new term in the conference, “miraculously normality.” It is a miracle for us to have the divine life of the Triune God, yet it is so normal for us to be children of God. Then he pointed out to us that God is Spirit, and we have a human spirit in the depth of our being (John 4:24). God has a plan to dispense Himself into us that we may have His life and nature (John 3:6). We can receive Him by believing into Him. And His Spirit then enters into our human spirit to be our life (1 Peter 3:18). This entering is so fast, it's likened to the shutter of the camera: it only takes a split second to capture the view of the scenery. When it clicks, the scene is captured and kept in the film. When we call, “O Lord Jesus” with a pure and seeking heart, His Spirit enters into our spirit at that moment. What a revelation! What a secret!

That night after the meeting I couldn't go to sleep. I was flooded with joy. I was assured that His Spirit had entered into my spirit to be my life. I don't have to struggle anymore, I don't have to find the way to make my spirit grow or how to nourish my spirit. I don't have to exhaust any more human efforts or any more man-made way to quench my thirsty spirit. His Spirit entered into me faster than the shutter speed of the camera. I don't have to wait to go to any spiritual giant, or wait for the spiritual meditation time or an insight. The Lord is in my spirit! (1 Corinthians 6:17) Hallelujah!
